A chill, refreshing strawberry basil frozen daiquiri pitcher perfect for summer gatherings, blending fresh strawberries, basil, rum, and lime juice into a smooth, icy cocktail that serves eight.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and roughly chopped
  • 15 fresh basil leaves, plus extra for garnish
  • 1 1/2 cups (360 ml) white rum
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) simple syrup
  • 4 cups (1 liter) crushed ice
  • Optional: strawberry slices and basil sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse and hull about 2 cups (300 g) of fresh strawberries. Roughly chop them.
  2. Gently rinse 15 fresh basil leaves and pat dry.
  3. Add strawberries and basil leaves to a high-powered blender. Pulse a few times to break down the basil and mix evenly with the berries.
  4. Pour in 1 1/2 cups (360 ml) white rum, 1/2 cup (120 ml) fresh lime juice, and 1/2 cup (120 ml) simple syrup. Blend until smooth. Taste and adjust sweetness or acidity as needed.
  5. Gradually add 4 cups (1 liter) crushed ice to the blender. Pulse and blend until smooth and slushy, avoiding over-blending.
  6. Pour the mixture into a chilled pitcher. Stir gently with a long-handled spoon to distribute flavors evenly.
  7. Garnish with sliced strawberries and basil sprigs. Serve immediately with straws or small glasses.

Notes

Pulse basil gently with strawberries to avoid bitterness. Add crushed ice last and serve immediately for best texture. Use fresh lime juice for optimal flavor. For a thicker texture, reduce ice or add frozen strawberries. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer up to 24 hours and re-blend before serving.
