A quick and easy frozen watermelon margarita recipe perfect for summer parties, blending fresh watermelon, lime, tequila, and triple sec into a refreshing icy cocktail.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (600 grams) fresh seedless watermelon chunks (or 3 cups frozen watermelon chunks)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) tequila blanco
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) triple sec or Cointreau
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) simple syrup
  • About 2 cups (480 ml) ice cubes (omit or reduce if using frozen watermelon)
  • Salt or Tajín for rimming glasses (optional)
  • Lime wedges for garnish

Instructions

  1. Chop about 4 cups (600 grams) of seedless watermelon into chunks. If using frozen watermelon, measure about 3 cups (450 grams) to account for ice added later.
  2. Squeeze 1/4 cup (60 ml) of fresh lime juice.
  3. In a high-speed blender, combine watermelon chunks, 1 cup (240 ml) tequila blanco, 1/2 cup (120 ml) triple sec, 2 tablespoons (30 ml) simple syrup, and fresh lime juice. Add about 2 cups (480 ml) of ice if using fresh watermelon; skip or reduce ice if using frozen watermelon. Blend on high until smooth and slushy.
  4. If desired, rim glasses with salt or Tajín by rubbing a lime wedge around the rim and dipping into salt or Tajín.
  5. Pour the frozen watermelon margarita into glasses, garnish with a lime wedge or small watermelon slice, and serve immediately.

Notes

Use ripe watermelon for best flavor. Fresh lime juice is essential for bright taste. Adjust ice quantity based on watermelon type to avoid dilution. Blend in bursts for smooth texture. Rim glasses just before serving to keep salt or Tajín crunchy. Keep tequila chilled for extra chill without watering down.
