Ingredients

Scale
  • Red Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) cherry or strawberry flavored gelatin
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka or clear liquor of choice
  • White Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1 cup (240 ml) coconut milk (full fat for best creaminess)
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka or rum (optional)
  • Blue Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blueberry or blue raspberry flavored gelatin
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka or clear liquor of choice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: In a medium bowl, pour 1 cup boiling water over the cherry or strawberry gelatin powder. Stir well for about 2 minutes until fully dissolved. Add 1/2 cup vodka and stir to combine. Pour the mixture evenly into shot glasses or molds, filling about one-third full. Refrigerate for 30-40 minutes until firm but slightly tacky.
  2. Make the White Layer: Sprinkle unflavored gelatin over 1/2 cup cold water and let bloom for 5 minutes. Heat 1/2 cup coconut milk with 1/4 cup sugar in a small saucepan over low heat until sugar dissolves (do not boil). Remove from heat and stir in bloomed gelatin until melted. Add 1/2 cup vodka (optional) and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Let cool slightly but not set.
  3. Add the White Layer: Once the red layer is tacky, carefully spoon the white mixture over it, filling the shot glasses about one-third more. Refrigerate for another 30-40 minutes until set but still slightly tacky.
  4. Prepare the Blue Layer: Dissolve blueberry gelatin in 1 cup boiling water, stir well, then add 1/2 cup vodka. Cool slightly but do not let it set.
  5. Top with Blue Layer: Gently pour the blue gelatin over the white layer, filling the cups to the top. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight until fully set.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Chill shots longer for firmer texture if desired. Run a warm towel or briefly dip molds in warm water to release silicone molds easily. Serve directly in plastic cups or pop out from molds.

Notes

Let each layer set until tacky before adding the next to prevent colors from bleeding. Use clear vodka or rum to keep colors vibrant. For non-alcoholic versions, replace alcohol with cold sparkling water or fruit juice. Prepare up to 2 days ahead for best flavor melding. Use full-fat coconut milk for creamier white layer. Bloom unflavored gelatin properly to avoid lumps.
