perfect patriotic charcuterie board - featured image

A festive and visually stunning charcuterie board featuring a patriotic red, white, and blue theme with a balanced mix of cheeses, cured meats, fresh fruits, nuts, and crackers. Perfect for celebrations like the Fourth of July or Memorial Day.

Ingredients

  • Triple-cream Brie (soft, creamy texture)
  • Aged sharp Cheddar (adds bite and contrast)
  • Blue cheese crumbles (optional for bold flavor)
  • Prosciutto slices (thinly sliced, delicate saltiness)
  • Salami rounds (choose a milder variety for balance)
  • Watermelon, cut into star shapes (use a small cookie cutter)
  • Strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • Blueberries (fresh, for that ‘blue field’ effect)
  • Raspberries (for stripes and color variation)
  • Roasted pistachios (for crunch and green color)
  • Honeycomb or a small jar of raw honey (for drizzling)
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary sprigs (for garnish and aroma)
  • Assorted crackers (multigrain, water crackers, or your favorite)
  • Mini baguette slices, lightly toasted

Instructions

  1. Rinse all fresh fruit. Use a small star-shaped cookie cutter to cut watermelon into stars. Hull and thinly slice the strawberries. Set aside the blueberries and raspberries for direct placement.
  2. Cut the triple-cream Brie into small wedges for easy grabbing. Slice the aged cheddar into thin rectangles or cubes. If using blue cheese, crumble it gently. Arrange cheeses loosely in clusters on the board.
  3. Fold prosciutto slices into loose rosettes or ribbons to add volume and visual interest. Lay salami slices in overlapping rows or small piles near the cheeses.
  4. Position the star-shaped watermelon in one corner of the board to represent the flag’s blue field. Surround this area with a dense cluster of blueberries to mimic the starry section.
  5. Alternate rows of strawberries and raspberries in stripes next to the blue section. Use long slices or whole berries depending on size, keeping the rows neat but natural.
  6. Scatter roasted pistachios around the edges and in small piles between fruit and cheese sections. Fill in gaps with assorted crackers and toasted baguette slices for easy serving.
  7. Place small ramekins with honey or honeycomb on the board, and tuck in fresh thyme or rosemary sprigs for aroma and color contrast.
  8. Bring the board to room temperature about 30 minutes before guests arrive to let the flavors bloom. Provide cheese knives and small plates.

Notes

Keep fruits dry after washing to avoid soggy crackers. Cut cheeses just before serving to maintain texture and appearance. Use contrasting textures like creamy cheeses, crunchy nuts, and crisp crackers. Avoid overcrowding the board for best presentation. Warm the board slightly before serving to enhance flavors. Drizzle honey over Brie just before serving for a special touch. For gluten-free, use almond or rice crackers. For dairy-free, substitute with coconut-based cream cheeses.
