A refreshing and bubbly punch bowl combining fresh watermelon juice, homemade lemonade, and sparkling water, perfect for summer gatherings and parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups watermelon, cubed and seedless (ripe and juicy)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 46 lemons)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 3 cups cold water
  • 4 cups sparkling water or club soda (chilled)
  • Optional garnishes: fresh mint or basil leaves, lemon slices, watermelon wedges, ice cubes or frozen watermelon cubes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Watermelon Juice (10 minutes): Cut the watermelon into cubes and blend in batches until smooth (about 1-2 minutes per batch). Pour the blended watermelon through a fine mesh sieve into a large bowl to remove pulp and seeds. Stir in the fresh lime juice and set aside.
  2. Make the Fresh Lemonade (10 minutes): In a pitcher, combine the fresh lemon juice and sugar. Stir vigorously until the sugar dissolves completely. Add 3 cups of cold water and stir. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed. Chill the lemonade in the refrigerator while you finish other steps.
  3. Assemble the Punch (5 minutes): Pour the watermelon juice and lemonade into your punch bowl. Stir gently to combine. Add ice cubes or frozen watermelon cubes to keep the punch cold without watering it down.
  4. Add Sparkling Water (Right Before Serving): Just before your guests arrive, pour in the chilled sparkling water to keep the fizz lively. Stir gently once to combine, avoiding too much agitation that can flatten the bubbles.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Add lemon slices, watermelon wedges, and fresh mint or basil leaves to the punch bowl for color and a fresh aroma. Use a ladle to serve into glasses filled with ice if desired.

Notes

Use seedless watermelon for best results. Add sparkling water just before serving to keep the fizz lively. Frozen watermelon cubes are preferred over regular ice to avoid diluting the punch. Adjust sugar to taste or substitute with honey, agave, or natural sweeteners. The punch can be made up to 24 hours ahead without sparkling water and refrigerated. Add sparkling water and ice just before serving.
