A quick and easy twist on traditional cinnamon rolls, these waffles have a crispy outside and soft, cinnamon-loaded inside, topped with a simple vanilla icing drizzle. Perfect for a cozy breakfast or brunch with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Pre-made cinnamon rolls (such as Pillsbury or local bakery refrigerated dough)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons milk (dairy or dairy-free)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions, about 5 minutes.
  2. Melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Unroll or cut each cinnamon roll into 4 equal pieces to help them cook evenly and fit better in the waffle iron.
  4. Brush or lightly spray the waffle iron with nonstick spray or melted butter to prevent sticking.
  5. Arrange the cinnamon roll pieces on the waffle iron grid in a single layer without overcrowding.
  6. Drizzle melted butter over the cinnamon roll pieces to help them crisp up and add richness.
  7. Close the waffle iron and cook for 4-6 minutes, checking for golden brown, crispy edges and a soft, gooey center.
  8. Carefully remove the waffle using a spatula or tongs and place it on a plate.
  9. While waffles cook, whisk together 1 cup powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 2 tablespoons milk in a bowl. Adjust milk to achieve a pourable but not too thin drizzle.
  10. Drizzle the vanilla icing generously over the warm waffles.
  11. Serve immediately for best crispy-soft texture.

Notes

Cut cinnamon rolls into smaller pieces for even cooking and crispiness. Brush melted butter on waffle iron before cooking to encourage caramelization and crisp edges. Avoid overcrowding waffle iron to prevent sogginess. Adjust icing thickness by adding more powdered sugar or milk as needed. Keep cooked waffles warm in a 200°F oven to maintain crispiness. Freeze leftovers and reheat in toaster or oven for best texture; avoid microwaving.
