A quick and easy snack featuring thinly sliced apples crisped with a caramel coating and drizzled with a creamy peanut butter sauce. Perfect for busy afternoons or a fun dessert with a satisfying crunch and rich flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large apples (preferably Honeycrisp or Fuji), thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (50 g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (28 g), melted
  • 1/3 cup caramel sauce (80 ml), store-bought or homemade
  • 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter (64 g)
  • 1 tablespoon milk or cream (15 ml)
  • Pinch of sea salt flakes

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Using a sharp knife or mandoline, slice them thinly (about 1/8 inch or 3 mm thick). Set aside in a large bowl.
  2. Add the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon to the apples. Toss gently until each slice is lightly coated.
  3. Place your skillet over medium heat and melt the unsalted butter until shimmering, being careful not to brown it.
  4. In batches, arrange the apple slices in a single layer in the skillet. Cook for about 2 minutes per side, or until golden and crisp edges form. Remove cooked slices to a plate lined with parchment paper to cool slightly.
  5. Warm the caramel sauce gently in a small saucepan or microwave until pourable but not hot (30 seconds to 1 minute). Drizzle evenly over the cooked apple slices.
  6. In a small bowl, combine peanut butter and milk or cream. Whisk until smooth and thin enough to drizzle. Warm slightly if needed to loosen it further.
  7. Drizzle the peanut butter over the caramel-coated apples using a spoon or small piping bag in thin, even streams.
  8. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt flakes over the top to balance the sweetness.
  9. Serve immediately for best crispiness.

Notes

Use crisp apple varieties like Honeycrisp or Fuji for best results. Cook apples in batches to avoid steaming and sogginess. Warm caramel and peanut butter gently to maintain drizzle consistency. Serve immediately to enjoy maximum crispiness. For dairy-free, substitute butter with coconut oil and use dairy-free caramel sauce.
