A quick and easy romantic dessert combining silky chocolate mousse with fresh strawberry flavor, perfect for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 ounces semisweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and diced
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream, cold
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Fresh strawberry slices (optional, for garnish)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Combine diced strawberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice in a small bowl. Let sit for 10-15 minutes to macerate and release juices, then mash lightly with a fork until mostly smooth with a few small chunks remaining. Set aside.
  2. Using a double boiler or microwave, melt the semisweet chocolate chips with the softened butter. Stir gently until smooth and glossy. Allow the chocolate mixture to cool slightly but not harden (about 5 minutes).
  3. In a chilled bowl, beat the cold heavy cream with vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  4. Gently fold the strawberry mixture into the whipped cream, being careful not to deflate it.
  5. Slowly fold the cooled melted chocolate into the strawberry cream mixture in small batches until fully combined and silky smooth.
  6. Spoon or pipe the mixture into heart-shaped silicone molds or press into cookie cutters placed on parchment paper. Smooth the tops with a spatula. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until set and firm to touch.
  7. Carefully unmold the chocolate strawberry silk hearts. Garnish with thin strawberry slices and a light dusting of powdered sugar.

Notes

Do not overwhip the cream; stop at soft peaks. Cool melted chocolate before folding to avoid melting the whipped cream. Fold gently to maintain airy texture. Use fresh ripe strawberries for best flavor. Chill bowls and beaters before whipping cream. If filling is too soft after refrigeration, leave overnight to firm up. For dairy-free, substitute heavy cream with chilled coconut cream and use vegan dark chocolate.
