These heart shaped chocolate covered strawberries are a quick, easy, and romantic treat perfect for Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, or any special occasion. Juicy strawberries are shaped into hearts, dipped in glossy chocolate, and decorated for a show-stopping dessert that’s as fun to make as it is to eat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (16 oz) fresh strawberries, large and firm
  • 8 oz dark chocolate chips or bars (or semisweet/milk chocolate)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for shine)
  • 2 oz white chocolate chips or bars (optional, for drizzling)
  • Sprinkles, crushed nuts, or edible glitter (optional, for decorating)
  • Toothpicks

Instructions

  1. Wash strawberries gently under cold water and pat dry thoroughly with paper towels. Let air dry for extra dryness.
  2. Slice each strawberry in half vertically through the stem. Remove green tops by cutting a small V at the top of each half to create the heart’s cleft.
  3. Place two halves together, cut sides facing in, to form a heart shape. Trim bottoms if needed so they sit flat.
  4. Secure the two halves with a toothpick, inserting it horizontally about 1/3 from the top.
  5. Place dark chocolate and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring each time, until smooth (about 1–1.5 minutes). Let cool slightly.
  6. Hold each heart by the toothpick and dip into melted chocolate, swirling to coat. Let excess chocolate drip off, then place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. While chocolate is wet, decorate with sprinkles, nuts, or edible glitter if desired.
  8. Melt white chocolate in a small bowl. Use a fork or spoon to drizzle lines across the hearts for a pretty finish (optional).
  9. Refrigerate tray for 15–20 minutes until chocolate is firm. Remove toothpicks carefully once set.
  10. Arrange on a platter or in cupcake liners for serving or gifting. Best enjoyed the day made, but leftovers keep up to 2 days in the fridge.

Notes

Ensure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to prevent chocolate from sliding off. Use high-quality chocolate for best results. Work in batches and decorate quickly before chocolate sets. For vegan or allergy-friendly versions, use dairy-free chocolate and safe toppings. Do not freeze finished strawberries as texture will suffer.
