A quick and easy summer snack featuring fresh strawberries, mini marshmallows, and blueberries arranged on skewers in a festive red, white, and blue pattern. Perfect for picnics, barbecues, and Fourth of July celebrations.

Ingredients

  • Fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced in half
  • Blueberries, washed and dried
  • Mini marshmallows (Jet-Puffed recommended)
  • Optional: Fresh pineapple chunks
  • Optional: Seedless grapes (white or green)
  • Wooden or bamboo skewers, about 8 inches long

Instructions

  1. Wash and prep the fruit: rinse strawberries and blueberries under cold water. Pat blueberries dry. Hull strawberries and slice each in half. Cut pineapple or separate grapes into bite-sized pieces if using.
  2. Gather your skewers and marshmallows: lay out skewers on a clean surface and have mini marshmallows ready in a small bowl.
  3. Assemble the skewers: thread fruit and marshmallows onto the skewer in a repeating red-white-blue pattern (half strawberry, one mini marshmallow, one blueberry) until the skewer is full, leaving space at each end for holding.
  4. Check for balance and adjust: ensure fruit pieces are not too tightly packed to prevent breaking or squishing. Trim pieces if needed.
  5. Chill before serving (optional): place skewers in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes for extra coolness.
  6. Serve and enjoy: arrange skewers on a platter and serve immediately.

Notes

Use firm, ripe fruit to prevent sogginess and keep skewers intact. Pat blueberries dry after washing. Assemble shortly before serving or chill to keep marshmallows from getting sticky. For vegan option, use dairy-free marshmallows or tofu cubes. Avoid plastic skewers as they may bend under fruit weight.
