A quick and comforting recipe that transforms leftover ham into delicious cheesy sliders on sweet Hawaiian rolls, topped with a buttery garlic glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 Hawaiian rolls (classic sweet rolls)
  • 1 pound leftover ham, thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces Swiss cheese, sliced
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the entire pack of Hawaiian rolls horizontally in half, keeping them attached if possible to form a slab. Place the bottom half into your baking dish.
  3. Evenly distribute about 1 pound of thinly sliced leftover ham over the bottom half of the rolls.
  4. Lay 8 ounces of sliced Swiss cheese over the ham, overlapping slices slightly.
  5. Gently place the top half of the rolls back over the cheese layer.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter, 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon poppy seeds, and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  7. Brush the butter mixture evenly over the tops of the rolls using a pastry brush or spoon.
  8. Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the tops are golden brown.
  9. Let the sliders rest for about 5 minutes after baking to allow the cheese to set.
  10. Cut between the rolls with a sharp knife and serve warm.

Notes

If rolls are dry, brush lightly with water before assembling. Watch sliders after 20 minutes to prevent burning; tent with foil if cheese browns too fast. Let sliders rest after baking for easier handling and better texture. For dairy-free or gluten-free options, substitute ingredients accordingly.
