A comforting dish featuring soft gnocchi, rich tomato sauce, and gooey melted cheese, perfect for cozy dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb potato gnocchi
  • 2 cups tomato sauce (500ml)
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In an oven-safe skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the tomato sauce and season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add the gnocchi directly into the skillet, gently stirring to coat each piece in the sauce. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Top with shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan. Arrange fresh basil leaves on top for added flavor.
  7. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Carefully remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes before serving. Sprinkle additional fresh basil on top for a finishing touch.

Notes

Don’t overcook the gnocchi as they’ll continue cooking in the oven. Use fresh mozzarella for the best texture and flavor.
