These decadent chocolate-covered strawberry swirl milk cups are an easy homemade treat combining creamy milk, luscious chocolate, and fresh strawberry puree for a comforting and indulgent dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups whole milk (480 ml)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (120 ml)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar (65 g)
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped (150 g)
  • 4 oz dark chocolate, chopped (115 g)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp gelatin powder (optional)
  • 2 tbsp cold water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the strawberry puree by blending hulled and chopped strawberries until smooth, then strain through a fine sieve to remove seeds. Set aside.
  2. Bloom the gelatin by sprinkling it over cold water and letting it sit for 5 minutes (optional).
  3. Heat whole milk, heavy cream, and granulated sugar in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, whisking until sugar dissolves and mixture is warm but not boiling (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat.
  4. Stir in vanilla extract. If using gelatin, warm the bloomed gelatin briefly in the microwave until melted and whisk into the warm milk mixture.
  5. Melt the chopped dark chocolate over a double boiler or in the microwave in short bursts, stirring frequently until smooth and glossy.
  6. Pour a thin layer of the milk mixture into each serving cup (about 1/4 cup). Add a spoonful of strawberry puree, then drizzle melted chocolate on top. Use a toothpick or skewer to gently swirl the layers to create a marbled effect.
  7. Repeat layering milk mixture, strawberry puree, and chocolate swirl until cups are nearly full (about 3 layers). Finish with a final swirl on top.
  8. Refrigerate the cups for at least 3 hours or until set (longer if using gelatin).
  9. Let the milk cups sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Do not overheat the milk to avoid scorching. Use fresh strawberries for best flavor and color. Swirl gently to keep layers distinct and avoid muddling. Gelatin is optional for firmer texture. Melt chocolate slowly in short bursts to prevent burning. Can be made dairy-free or vegan with substitutions. Prepare up to 2 days ahead or freeze for up to 2 weeks.
