Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings, tips removed and wings split at the joint
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder (not baking soda)
  • 1 teaspoon salt, divided
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • ¼ cup honey (about 85 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • A handful fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to ensure crispiness.
  2. Toss the wings in a large bowl with baking powder, ½ teaspoon salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  4. Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overcrowding.
  5. Cook wings for 10-12 minutes, then flip each wing with tongs.
  6. Continue cooking for another 10-13 minutes until the skin is golden and crispy and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  7. While wings cook, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, olive oil, and red pepper flakes (if using) in a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl.
  8. Warm the sauce gently over low heat or microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring until smooth and fragrant.
  9. Transfer cooked wings to a large bowl and pour the warm honey garlic sauce over them.
  10. Toss gently to coat every wing without tearing the skin.
  11. Plate the wings and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley for garnish.
  12. Serve immediately for best texture.

Notes

Pat wings dry thoroughly before seasoning to ensure crispiness. Use baking powder (not baking soda) to help crisp the skin. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if needed. Warm the sauce gently to avoid bitterness. For extra sticky wings, toss in sauce twice. To reheat leftovers, use the air fryer at 350°F for 5-7 minutes to restore crispiness.
