Quick and easy crispy buffalo chicken wings made in the air fryer, coated in tangy buffalo sauce and served with creamy ranch dressing for the perfect snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder (not baking soda)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ cup (120 ml) buffalo sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot Original)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (optional, for richness in buffalo sauce)
  • Ranch dressing, for dipping (homemade or store-bought)
  • Optional garnishes: chopped fresh parsley or celery sticks

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. (5 minutes)
  2. In a large bowl, combine baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. (2 minutes)
  3. Add the wings to the bowl and toss until each piece is evenly coated with the baking powder mixture. (3 minutes)
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes.
  5. Arrange the wings in a single layer inside the air fryer basket without overcrowding. Cook in batches if needed. (2 minutes)
  6. Air fry the wings at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through at around 10-12 minutes, until golden brown and crispy. (20-25 minutes)
  7. While wings cook, combine buffalo sauce and melted butter in a bowl and mix well. (3 minutes)
  8. Transfer cooked wings to a large bowl, pour buffalo sauce over, and toss to coat evenly. (2 minutes)
  9. Serve wings immediately with ranch dressing and optional celery sticks or parsley garnish.

Notes

Pat wings dry thoroughly for best crispiness. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary. Toss wings in sauce immediately after cooking to keep them glossy but not soggy. For dairy-free buffalo sauce, substitute butter with olive oil. Leftovers can be reheated in the air fryer at 375°F for 5-7 minutes to restore crispiness.
